Sajji is a popular Pakistani dish, typically made with whole roasted chicken that has been marinated in a blend of spices. Here's a simple recipe to make Sajji at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons of red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala powder
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup oil

Instructions:

  1. Wash the chicken thoroughly and make slits all over it.

  2. In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, salt, paprika, lemon juice, and oil.

  3. Rub the marinade all over the chicken, making sure to get it into the slits.

  4. Let the chicken marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator for best results.

  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  6. Place the chicken on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked through and golden brown.

  7. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving and serving.
